Why do we need to use technology?
- We need to use technology to enhance student mastery of our curriculum.
- so that students can learn how to gain knowledge on their own and share what they discover
- to foster communication and collaboration
- to perform tasks more easily, more effectively and more efficiently
- to teach current generation of digital learners
- to ease other cognitive demands placed upon learners
- Pivotal that technology is not taught in isolation to learn specific applications, but to move students to higher level of learning
- transfer of skills to new situations
21st century skills require the use of technology. Students need to be productive members of the 21st century society.
Technology is ubiquitous, you can't ignore it.
Technology (the Internet, specifically) provides access to an almost infinite amount of information on absolutely anything that anyone would want to know. Why wouldn't you want kids to use it?
